International Hotel Investment Forum panel moderated by RLA Global CEO Roger Allen
2019 / Mar
The panel session titled 'Seeing the Bigger Picture: How to Maximise Revenue Beyond the Bedroom' at the recent IHIF event in Berlin brought a high-energy and lively discussion
The starting point of the conversation was stating the fact that most hotels can no longer rely on room revenues only to optimize financial performance. Experiential travel is also demanding hotels to be more creative with what is offered outside of the bedroom.
The renown hospitality industry professionals Jay Stein, CEO Dream Hotel Group; Michael Manz, Founder & Managing Partner, Swiss Hospitality; Marco P. Nijhof, Group Director of Hospitality & Guest Experience, Value Retail Management; Ronit Copeland, Managing Director, Copeland Hospitality addressed the complex topic of how to best optimise the non-revenue generating spaces. Recommendations have been raised on what hotels can learn from the retail sector, looking at measuring revenue per sqm, co-branding with fashion and retail brands. Another thread of the talks was how the creation of foodtainment spaces as dining & nightlife attractions can contribute to the revenues outside the bedroom.
